The HRIMM Story and Mission Statement

HRIMM came about from a conjoining of Fr. Francis Le's trip to bring medicine to the poor in Lima, Peru and Dr. Libby Albinda's prayers for guidance in how she could serve others after her retirement from a succesful medical practice. Wishing to continue his service to the poor, Fr. Francis approached Dr. Albinda to join him in organizing a trip to his native country, Vietnam.  After prayer and relfection, Dr. Albinda took on the challenge and the first medical mission trip was realized.

ON THE WAY HOME from that first trip, on an airplane-supplied napkin, HRIMM's mission statement was born:

"Moved by the love of God and guided by the Holy Spirit, we are a group of ordinary Catholics and friends that strive to reach out and serve the least of our brothers and sisters in Christ by providing medical care and to support  other mission groups that are working with the poor in underdeveloped countries."

ANGIE VERDUN took on the roll as treasurer and was able to get HRIMM established as an incorporated non-profit while Dr. Libby Albinda took over the reins as the President of the Board of Directors. Dr. Randolph Clarke and Aileen Hayes supplemented the first board of directors while Fr. Francis opted to work quietly in the background.

SINCE THAT FIRST TRIP to Vietnam, HRIMM has completed 13 missions, served 18,000 medical patients and 740 dental patients, distributed 2,000 glasses, distributed 80 hearing aids, and given over $2 million in supplies and medications.

HRIMM is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization
